The hills taught us to slow down.

The hills taught us to slow down.

Awarahun began in Uttarakhand, among the pine ridges of Almora, the quiet lanes of Kasar Devi and the lakes around Nainital. Places people have long come to, to think, make and wander.

The Himalayas aren’t a backdrop for us. They’re the pace we try to keep: unhurried, curious, a little unconventional.

What we believe

  1. Freedom

Choosing your own way of life, not a predefined one.

  2. Exploration

Living with curiosity. Taking the long way on purpose.

  3. Nature

Handmade processes, honest textures, and the hills as our pace.

  4. Creativity

Making things, and making room for everyone else who makes things.

  5. Responsibility

Being free without harming anyone. The part of “awara” people forget.

Made by women in the hills

Empowering hands

We work with local women in Kumaon who make macramé and crochet by hand. Every piece takes hours, and carries a little of the hills. You’ll find their work in our store.

Some things need to be touched to be understood: the weight of handloom, the texture of a stitch. Come in, look around, stay a while.
